california center for ocean sciences education excellence

You may have thought about sharing your science with non-scientists but felt it was too time-consuming or difficult. Whether your motivation is satisfying funding agency requirements and/or personal satisfaction, we'll help you find or create an education plan that:

reflects your science • links you with effective, professional partners in science education • reaches the audience that you most want to serve • provides documentation for annual reports to funding agencies • benefits your graduate students • is tailored to your schedule and availability • may enhance your research

Funding agencies encourage, and in some cases require PIs to show how proposed research will have broader impacts. With minimal effort on your part, we’ll connect you with the science education professionals who can broadly disseminate components of your research to a diverse audience. We’ll also help you write the sections of your proposal that that describe the outreach plan, its anticipated impact and associated costs. And this service is free!

Below are descriptions of the three California COSEE Scientist Involvement levels.

  • One 1-2-hour interaction with CA COSEE staff to evaluate the experience
  • 0-5% of your proposal budget
